Cellulite Treatment with Cellfina™ in Morehead City, NC

Many of our North Carolina clients in Morehead City and the Jacksonville area are seeing impressive results from Cellfina™ treatments provided at New Visage to reduce the appearance of cellulite and achieve smoother firmer skin.

Cellulite is a common complaint among women of all ages. While the dimpled appearance of cellulite does not indicate a serious medical condition, it can certainly become a significant cosmetic embarrassment. Cellulite that appears on the buttocks and thighs can make you dread warmer temperatures when those areas are exposed under short shorts and bathing suits.

Cellfina™ is the latest cellulite treatment offering women one of the first effective methods to treat the cottage cheese look over the long term. It’s a cellulite reduction and cellulite removal tool. Cellfina™ is a minimally invasive procedure that actually targets cellulite at its source, reversing the conditions that led to the dimpling. New Visage is one of the few medical spas in North Carolina to offer this innovative treatment, giving our patients a chance to truly reduce the look of cottage cheese thighs and buttocks for many years at a time.

WHAT IS CELLULITE?

Cellulite is a condition that leads to a dimpled look to the skin, often compared to cottage cheese or an orange peel. It is a common condition that affects more than 90 percent of women at some point during their lives. The condition is not usually seen in men. While many believe cellulite is an unfortunate byproduct of weight gain, that is not usually the case. However, extra pounds can make cellulite that has already formed more prominent.

There are many different factors that can contribute to cellulite, including:

  • Genetics – if your mother had cellulite, you will be more likely to have it as well
  • Age – cellulite becomes more prevalent in women over the age of 30
  • Diet – too many foods rich in fat, carbohydrates, and salt may contribute to cellulite formation
  • Pregnancy – due to weight gain and loss, as well as the hormonal fluctuations that occur during those nine months
  • Sedentary Lifestyle – lack of exercise leads to sluggish circulation, which can lead to the formation of cellulite
  • Smoking – this habit also inhibits healthy blood flow, increasing your risk for cellulite
  • Tight Clothing – clothing that is tight around the waist or thighs restricts blood flow, which could increase your risk for cellulite

Cellulite is a threefold problem. First, fat cells in the area expand and press against the skin’s surface. Fibrous bands that make up part of the underlying structure of the skin begin to constrict, resulting in skin dimpling. Finally, skin begins to thin as we age, making the dimpled appearance more prominent.

WHAT IS CELLFINA™?

Cellfina™ is the first FDA-approved cellulite treatment that actually targets the source of the dimpling – the fibrous bands that constrict and create the small fat bulges and the orange peel look. The device combines advanced technology and a proven surgical technique known as subcision, which allows the physician to work beneath the surface of the skin without causing excessive trauma to the skin and surrounding tissue.

Subcision has been used in the past to treat some types of scarring, including acne scars, effectively. Now, the technique can be used in the same fashion to reduce the appearance of cellulite significantly. The procedure uses tiny micro-blades the size of needles to cut the fibrous bands and release the tissue. The result is a smoother look to the area, as the dimpling disappears.

A single treatment with Cellfina™ is all that is necessary that you might achieve full results, which is a significant benefit over other cellulite treatments that require regular treatment sessions to maintain a smoother look. The treatment is performed using local anesthetic and does not involve a significant amount of downtime afterward. The procedure is safe to use on all skin types and has one of the highest patient satisfaction rates of any cosmetic procedure available today.

WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE LIKE?

Cellfina™ is performed in our office using local anesthetic. Once the area is numbed, a small suction device is used to isolate the dimple to be treated. The tiny blades penetrate the skin, similar to an injection, releasing the fibrous bands underneath. Patients experience little or no discomfort during the procedure, which typically lasts around 45 minutes.

After the procedure, you are able to return to most of your daily activities. However, the treatment area may be bruised and tender for the first few days following treatment, prompting many patients to take it a bit easier during that time. By the third day after your procedure, your discomfort should subside significantly and the soreness will only be felt if pressure is placed on the treatment area. Bruising will also improve during this time, allowing you to begin to enjoy the results of your treatment.

WHAT KIND OF RESULTS CAN I EXPECT?

You might begin to see the full results of your Cellfina™ procedure within three days after treatment. Your skin will look smoother with a noticeable reduction in dimpling. You can combine Cellfina™ with body contouring procedures, such as CoolSculpting®, to further enhance your appearance.

Results from Cellfina™ might better than those offered with any other type of cellulite treatment on the market today. One clinical study on Cellfina™ showed 98 percent of the patients that underwent Cellfina™ treatments saw improvement in the appearance of their cellulite. Two years later, 96 percent of patients continued to be satisfied with the results of their procedure. The high rate of patient satisfaction is the prime reason Cellfina™ is poised to become the gold standard in cellulite treatment as more physicians continue to offer the procedure.

Don’t dread summer because of unsightly cellulite. Now, there is an effective treatment to reduce the look of your cottage cheese thighs with minimal discomfort and downtime. A single procedure is all it takes to get the smoother appearance you are craving, and your positive results will likely last two years or even longer.
